Stellarium renders 3D photo-realistic skies in real time with OpenGL. It displays stars, constellations, planets, nebulas and others things like ground, landscape, atmosphere, etc.
Stellarium is free GPL software which renders realistic skies in real time with openGL. With Stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope. Stellarium is also used in planetariums.
As with the release of the previous version of Stellarium (0.9.1), version 0.10.0 brings a great many changes under the hood. Unlike the previous version, in this release the underlying changes are matched by a significant change to the user interface of the program. This article highlights some of the features which we believe make Stellarium 0.10.0 a ground-breaking release, and then goes on to discuss some directions which may be explored in future.
Changes include: Revamped User Interface Less Obtrusive Button Bar / Title Bar Expanded Location Database Improved Performance Light Pollution Simulation / Bortle Scale Dynamic Eye Adaptation And more!
